Visit Maldives launches Creatoll, a global content creator platform for authentic island storytelling

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has officially launched Creatoll, a global content creator platform designed to showcase authentic Maldivian stories and connect creators with tourism partners, brands, and global audiences. The platform was unveiled by Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim during the Maldives Culture and Food Festival 2025.

Creatoll is conceived as a dedicated content marketplace where Maldivian and international content creators can professionally showcase, license, and monetise content that highlights the Maldives. The name reflects the idea that creativity emerges from every atoll, recognising that talent exists across the islands and that compelling Maldivian storytelling can be shaped by both local and visiting creators.

At launch, Creatoll features curated visual content that captures real island experiences, local culture, nature, and everyday life in the Maldives. The platform is designed to evolve over time, expanding its scope to support a wider range of creative assets as it grows.

For Maldivian creators, Creatoll provides direct access to international opportunities that were previously difficult to reach, enabling them to present their work to a global market while retaining professional visibility and ownership. International creators are also able to earn through the platform, provided their content authentically showcases the Maldives. This approach ensures a diverse yet place-led pool of content that remains rooted in genuine destination experiences.

“Creatoll is designed to put creators at the centre of how the Maldives is represented globally,” said Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation.

“For local creators, it opens doors to international exposure and sustainable creative careers. At the same time, it allows us to collaborate with visiting creators whose work reflects the true spirit of the Maldives, ensuring our destination is promoted through authentic and meaningful storytelling.”

The launch of Creatoll marks a strategic step in Visit Maldives Corporation’s ongoing efforts to empower creators, diversify destination marketing, and reinforce the Maldives’ presence in global travel and cultural conversations.
